Mental Sex
I will give a very brief and, in my opinion, pitiful definition/description of the origins of Tantra here and hope that those interested or intrigued will actively pursue further knowledge. For those who are interested, there are at least 5 active Tantra links on my website, which will lead to various access information, books, scriptures, and teachings.
Tantra is a form of Hindu (Mahayana Buddhism originating in northern India) religious writings of the less ancient fourth class of shastras. These writings contain mystical teachings about creation and destruction, and center around the manifest active conscious energy of the divine spirit to be worshiped as the wife of a Vedic god, who attains the highest level of his power in union with her. Part of these teachings includes the mantras, mudra, and erotic rites.
Tantra, in its common usage form (in the United States), is often spoken of in relation to the practices of mentally controlled sexuality through the usage of various tantric teachings, rituals, and thought processes.
Many other cultures have similar theological practices to 'harness' the sexual energy, as well as management techniques to control and direct the mind as it relates to sexual/spiritual experiences.
The application of sensory stimulation (such as through BDSM) applies in uniquely peculiar ways to those who are fascinated by the potentials of the mind in union with the spirit and physical body in attaining transcendent spiritual/mental/physical states.
A very short exploration into almost any type of D/s or BDSM scene will present both the Dominant and the submissive with real evidence of the mind's capacity to alter and even bend apparent reality. It is common for many submissives to be able to 'feel' into a scene being described to them, even if the Dominant is at some distance (on the phone), to the point where the submissive is 'within' the reality of the Dominant's mind. A submissive who flows mentally into a Dominant may find it quite easy to trigger their body, especially the sexual triggers, purely through thought or suggestion. (It is important for a Dominant to realize that 'some' submissives are capable of 'feeling' all types of triggers, including those of fear, terror, pain, and entrapment. Great care should be given to such explorations! It is my strong suggestion that a Dominant always be present and not practice mental controls at a distance, even when that practice or play is tempting.) In addition to a small amount of reinforcing 'training', most submissives can engage in deep, continuous erotic releases. This control can become so strong that the submissive may remain in this state for hours with their body continuing to trigger over and over, in obedience to the 'delayed' or 'looped' command of their Dominant.
Those interested in exploring mental sex, erotic sexuality, or transcendent states should investigate Tantric teachings as well as the Kama Sutra, precisely to learn in much greater detail some of the potentials they are dealing with or can discover through alternative ideologies and thought.
