ENERGETICS: Master the Power of Transformation

Journey to the Center of the Self!

Energetics is about realizing, accessing, and manifesting our potentials through awareness of energy.

Often, we go through our lives feeling we are being tugged along, caught in the grip of a large force. Sometimes we resign ourselves to this perception, telling ourselves that what happens is our fate, our destiny. We give ourselves over to the belief that we have little or no control over this force. It is happening to us. We are its victims.

This 'force' is a type of energy. We can't measure it exactly, not yet, not like electricity. Still, we know it is similar to electricity. We sense some of its properties when we use it. As children, we explore the nature of energy. We discover that if we direct our attention toward an object, energy flows with our attention, and our relationship toward the object is transformed. Perhaps we see our toes and 'desire' to touch them. This desire unites with energy powering muscles to reach. We touch our toes, and the existing reality is transformed.

Most of the time, we don't acknowledge energy. We accept its presence as simply what exists. On some level, we have an instinctive understanding of the intimate nature of this force we utilize. We may even guess that we ourselves are energy manifested in form. Often, this type of thought is difficult to hold onto. We want to retreat back into the safety of our sensory perceptions. We want the nature of reality to be 'different' from the nature of energy.

These types of personal determinations don't really alter our underlying knowledge of our nature. But these thoughts can create obstructions limiting our awareness of energy. Each obstruction we create serves to limit our fundamental potentials. We lose our understanding of the energy behind the transformations we are constantly experiencing. It is as though we cannot see the energy for the transformations it produces.

If we accept energy as our nature, we are also exposed to the potential truth that we are not distinct and separate but within or part of everything we are able to perceive to exist.

We appear to have two choices: to be aware of our relationship with energy or to choose to ignore this relationship. If we choose to ignore our relationship with energy, we invite ourselves to interpret the cause of transformation upon us as we experience our lives. We become reactive to the forces that permeate everything. Our energy is no longer aligned with action. When this happens, we often react in direct opposition to energy in action.

So, what happens if you reach a point in your life where you no longer desire to be reactive, where you desire to move with energy instead of against it? How do you go about being energy in action?

If we open to the idea that energy is already acting within our thought process of desire, we realize we are always transforming since we are energy. Since this is a constant process, what do I mean when I talk about "being energy in action"?

From my perspective, energy flows like the path of a river. This flow may be leisurely, slowly eroding the bed that contains it. If we visit the river today, we don't notice this transformation in progress. It is invisible. If we increase how much water is in the river, we may observe no appreciable difference, so we can conjecture that the amount of water available doesn't necessarily translate to a faster transformation process. However, if we take the river and speed up the flow of water, we may actually be able to observe the transformation immediately. So, we can conclude that even a small amount of water, accelerated, can increase the rate of transformation. If we accelerate a larger body of water, the result will be widespread, rapid transformation of the landscape.

By equating energy to water, we can speculate a similar condition in ourselves. Our 'potential' might represent all the energy we possess or can access/use. Our present condition is often the result of how we have created resistance to this potential. Today, in our lives, we may have restricted our energy to the point where we operate on a tiny trickle. Our potential has shrunk to what little energy gets past all of our 'stuff'. Compounding this, we may be almost entirely blind to what we can access. We may be completely reactive to what remains accessible. We may experience this as 'life controlling us' rather than 'ourselves being intimately mingled with life'. We may say, "My life never changes." We have become the slow-moving flow of water, our life force so diminished as to become invisible.

Is rapid transformation better?

This question permeates our lives. We are never completely oblivious to the processes of energy, life, and realization. We know we can somewhat choose the speed of our personal experience of evolution. It is tempting to find a comfortable place and stay there, hold off on transformation in our desire to believe that we have achieved our goals. We do this even as the transformation process continues. Sometimes we delay this process by creating a dam to hold back change. Inevitably, this dam creates pressure that builds and builds until it overwhelms all of our efforts to hold back the flow of transformation in our lives. Sometimes this flood is so significant that the transformation it brings is now vast, sweeping away, without regard, everything in its path. At times, this flood takes our lives from us.

Perhaps the question we should ask is: how profound do we want our life experience to be? Are we content to walk through the events of our life, detached, being pulled from moment to moment? At the end of our lives, will we view our choices as having produced a rich, deep, and challenging life? Will we wonder what we could have done with our untapped potential?

If we restrict the flow of energy to a mere trickle and tiptoe through our life, afraid of anything that can blow a hole in our fragile construct, do we not become owned by the fear of change? Are we not in the possession of forces working upon us?

If we open to the flow of energy, then what? To embrace the concept of transformation and change, we must vacate comfort, completion, and attainment of goals. We will never arrive. But what will our life journey be like if we risk facing our fears? If we embrace our potential?
